Uniquely For You
Omaha Beach |
| Visit
Omaha Beach, today a site for rest,
relaxation and remembrance. But, 60
years ago, in June 1944, this beach was
the center of a war where bombs and
bullets laced the sand. The D-Day
landings were the largest military
operation in history and the beaches of
Normandy bore the brunt of the invasion.
It was Omaha that witnessed the most
vicious fighting of World War II. Early
dawn that chilly June morning in 1944,
almost 7000 boats hit the beaches and
tens of thousands of soldiers from
Canada, the USA, and UK and elsewhere
began pouring onto the shores. While
little physical evidence remains of this
battle today, its impact on the lives of
so many, and the history of our world,
will forever be remembered. |
