Uniquely For You
Bay of Fundy |
|
Created more than 30 million years ago
by glaciers and migrating continents,
the Bay of Fundy is one of the marine
wonders of the world, receiving more
than one hundred billion tons of water
from the Atlantic Ocean in massive tidal
swings each day. Your image of the Bay
of Fundy greatly depends on the time of
day you visit. When the tide is low, you
can actually walk on the ocean floor.
Here, clusters of rock formations rise
from the earth, appearing as gigantic
towers, capped of with various forms of
greenery. Just six hours later, when the
tide is high, the towers are submerged,
appearing as tiny islands. The Bay of
the Fundy is home to the world's highest
tides. Twice a day, water moves in and
out of the 160-mile long waterway. In
some places, the water can rise up to
40-feet higher than low tide- and during
a full moon, it is not uncommon for the
water to surge to 50 feet or more.
