Uniquely For You
Tea Ceremony |
|
The tradition of tasting tea originated in China
in about the 8th century and was brought to Japan by Zen
Buddhist priests at the end of the 12th century, who used it to
prevent drowsiness during the long hours of meditation. Today,
the tea ceremony (Sado) continues to be one of the wellsprings
of Japanese culture. Your opportunity to participate in this
time-honored tradition occurs during your stay in Kyoto, where
the etiquette involved in making tea was developed to cultivate
the spirit of the practitioner. The essence of the tea ceremony
embodies the Japanese people's recognition that true beauty is
found in plainness and simplicity. Calmness and gracefulness
define the true spirit of the tea ceremony. |
