Fascinating Beijing,
capital of the People’s Republic of China, is home to
such historic structures as the Forbidden City, with its
acres of pavilions, courtyards and gardens; the elegant
Summer Palace, and Tiananmen Square. During your single
hotel stay, you’ll get to know this fabled spot, and
come to understand the strong Chinese culture. There
will be escorted excursions to important architectural
and cultural locations, and plenty of leisure time to
discover Beijing and the surrounding area, perhaps
taking in the legendary Terra-Cotta Warriors in Xian or
shopping for beautifully-crafted Chinese treasures.
Among the highlights of this extraordinary city stay are
a visit to the world-famous Beijing Zoo to catch a
glimpse of the famous pandas and a walk along a portion
of the 3,700-mile Great Wall of China. You’ll even have
a chance to participate in a time-honored and favorite
pastime of the Chinese - kite flying! Be sure to save
the kite and bring it home as a souvenir. A rickshaw
ride through the narrow ancient streets, a thrilling
performance at the Peking Opera and such authentic
culinary delights as Peking duck and Beijing dumplings
are all sure to delight.

Day
1: Overnight Flight
Day 2: Arrive Beijing, China
Experience one of the most fascinating cities in the
world, Beijing. Over the next several days, you will
experience the beauty and intrigue of this ancient
culture. (D)
Day 3: Beijing
Your day is highlighted by a sightseeing tour of
Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China,
with visits to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and
the Summer Palace. Enjoy a time-honored and favorite
pastime of the Chinese when you go kite-flying!It
doesn’t take much effort to fly and the kite is a great
souvenir to take home. Tonight, a special Peking duck
dinner is included. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Beijing
Enjoy a full day of leisure exploring this wonderful
city. You may take an optional tour to Xian*, which
includes a visit to the Terra-Cotta Warriors Museum.
Visit the City Wall and the Wild Goose Pagoda, if time
permits. (B)
Day 5: The Great Wall
No visit to China would be complete without seeing The
Great Wall. Behold this awesome site and have the chance
to walk along a portion of this 3,700-mile marvel.
Travel through the Valley of the Ming Tombs, where you
will visit the burial site of one of China’s past
emperors. Your dinner this evening, a Beijing dumpling
dinner, is followed by a special treat: the Peking Opera
show. (B, L, D)
Day 6: Beijing
Explore more of Beijing on your own! You may want to
experience an optional tour of the Dynasty Antique
Furniture factory. Craftsmen will give demonstrations on
how Chinese furniture is made without nails or glue, but
simply the use of joints, a craft almost lost in the
West. This evening you may choose an optional tour to
the world-famous Beijing Acrobatic Show. (B)
Day 7: Beijing
This morning visit the Temple of Heaven to see the
locals doing their morning Tai Chi. Later, enjoy a visit
to the Beijing Zoo, home of the famous Pandas.
Afterwards you have the opportunity to experience
ancient Beijing on a rickshaw tour through its narrow
streets and alleys. With help from an interpreter, you
will learn about a local family’s history and way of
life when you share lunch with them in their Hutong
home. They will also teach you the art of traditional
dumpling making! This afternoon you may enjoy one last
walk through the bustling streets of the city before
joining your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner. (B,

Day 8: Beijing - Tour Ends - Depart for USA
Your tour ends in Beijing. (B)

On your return flight home you will cross the
International Dateline.
