On this exciting getaway,
you'll tour the area in and around San Francisco, with
visits to Monterey and the Napa Valley. The beauty of
the Pacific Ocean is yours to behold as you travel along
the legendary 17 Mile Drive. You'll visit Pebble Beach
and the Lone Cypress before driving to chic Carmel with
its unique boutiques, cafes and charming cottage homes.
In Monterey, explore Cannery Row and enjoy a wonderful
dinner before returning to "the city by the Bay." You'll
tour San Francisco's famous sights, walk along
Fisherman's Wharf, and, perhaps take a ride on a famed
cable car. Then you're off to the most famous
wine-growing region in the country, beautiful Napa
Valley. A ride through this picturesque area aboard a
restored 1915 train, combined with superbly crafted
wines, provides you with a solid foundation on both wine
tasting and train history!

Day
1: Arrive San Francisco, California
Your tour begins as you join Collette Vacations in beautiful San
Francisco, "The City by the Bay." Tonight, enjoy a guided
walking tour through San Francisco's famous Chinatown, exploring
its' back alleys, unique Asian retailers and places of worship,
while learning the colorful history of this "city within a
city". Visit the Fortune Cookie Factory to see fortune cookies
made right before your eyes. Then, enjoy a welcome dinner in the
heart of this fascinating area. (D)
Day 2: San Francisco - Carmel - Monterey - San Francisco
Today your travels transport you to the beauty of the Pacific
Ocean and 17 Mile Drive. Visit Pebble Beach and the legendary
Lone Cypress before driving to Carmel, where you will have time
to enjoy its unique boutiques, cafes and charming cottage homes.
Afterward, travel to Monterey to explore Cannery Row and enjoy a
wonderful dinner before returning to San Francisco. (B, D)
Day 3: San Francisco
This morning enjoy a short stroll to breakfast on Pier 39, San
Francisco's #1 attraction. From here you'll experience the
opportunity of an up-close view of the haul-out of harbor seals,
postcard views of the Golden Gate and Bay bridges, Alcatraz and
the San Francisco Bay. After breakfast, you will be met by a
local guide for a sightseeing tour of the city. Highlights
include the Twin Peaks, Seal Rocks and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Your afternoon is at leisure to explore the shops at either
Fisherman's Wharf or Union Square. Perhaps you'll take a ride up
and down the city's thrilling hills on a famed cable car. (B)
Day 4: San Francisco - Napa Valley - San Francisco
Travel to beautiful Napa Valley, the most famous wine-growing
region in the country, and experience the rich flavor of this
region. Spend the afternoon riding the Napa Valley Wine Train in
a splendidly restored 1915 Pullman train car rolling through the
picturesque Napa Valley at an unhurried pace. Blend this with
superbly crafted wines, innovative food provided by a gracious
staff, plus as much education on wine tasting and wine train
history as you desire. (B, L)
Day 5: San Francisco - Tour Ends
Your tour ends, leaving you with many pleasant memories of your
San Francisco Getaway tour.
