A visit to New Hampshire is not complete without a sail on its largest lake, Winnipesaukee, aboard the famous Motorship Mount Washington. Since 1872 there have been only tow vessels named MOUNT WASHINGTON; the original vessel being built by the Boston & Maine Railroad company for the purpose of transporting travelers and cargo from one side of the big lake to the other. Today the "Mount" provides the best opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of the region including the White Mountains, luxurious lakefront homes, and ports like Weirs Beach, Wolfeboro, and Meredith. With its wide, spacious decks, there is ample room to move about on the 1250-passenger capacity vessel while a lake expert will call your attention to the interesting views, points of interest, and local lore.
